Pre-release Announcement: Advanced Cable Tester v2

Total Phase is pleased to announce that our Advanced Cable Tester v2 is expected to launch this winter. The Advanced Cable Tester v2 is the most advanced, comprehensive cable tester on the market, combining thorough test coverage from the first-generation tool with additional support for an even wider range of cables in USB, video, and Lightning. Our comprehensive testing includes continuity testing of all pins, verifying all power pins (VBUS and GND) are carrying the required current, validating the accuracy of the E-Marker, as well as analyzing signal integrity of cables with accompanying eye diagrams.

This tool encompasses a new design that provides enhanced measurement of Rp/Rd/Ra, full support for PD 3.0, and graphical analysis for shorts, opens, and routing. This is the ideal tool for high speed production testing in manufacturing environments as well as detailed failure analysis and statistical process control in lab environments. Additionally, this tool provides exponentially quicker test results with an easy-to-understand pass/fail confirmation screen and tests cables at just pennies per test.

This next generation cable tester provides a much wider range of test coverage for a larger variety of USB, video, and Lightning cables, including Standard-A, Micro-B, Standard-B, Type-C, Lightning, HDMI and DisplayPort. Various interchangeable connector modules are available to allow users to easily test a number of different cables types based on their requirements. At launch, these modules will be available:

• USB Type-C to USB Type-C (USB 3.2 and earlier specifications)
• USB Type-C to USB Standard-A (USB 3.2 and earlier version specifications)
• USB Type-C to USB Micro-B (USB 3.2 and earlier version specifications)
• USB Type C to USB Standard-B (USB 3.2 and earlier version specifications)
• USB Standard-A to USB Micro-B (USB 3.2 and earlier version specifications)
• USB Standard-A to USB Standard-B (USB 3.2 and earlier version specifications)
• Lightning (USB 2.0) to USB Standard-A
• Lightning (USB 2.0) to USB Type-C
• HDMI to HDMI (HDMI 2.1 and earlier version specifications)
• DisplayPort to DisplayPort (DisplayPort 1.4 and early version specifications)

Limited quantities of the Advanced Cable Tester v2 will be available this quarter. We are currently accepting pre-orders and units will be shipped on a first come, first serve basis. If you’re interested please contact us at sales@totalphase.com.
