Last week, the Total Phase Sales and Marketing team exhibited at the DesignCon Conference in Santa Clara, California. It was an exciting few days filled with great conversations with Engineering professionals coupled with live engaging demonstrations of our latest solutions for embedded systems debugging!

DesignCon Demo Stations

Advanced Cable Tester v2

At our booth, visitors had the chance to see the Advanced Cable Tester v2, in action. The demo highlighted sample test reports for USB-C and HDMI cables, featuring real-time measurements of pin continuity, DC resistance, and signal integrity:

Promira Serial Platform

The highlight of the show, however, was our live demonstration of the Promira Serial Platform and its newest ability to function as a high-speed I2C/SPI protocol analyzer.

Promira Serial Platform demo station with Snake game

This demo featured two Promira Serial Platform units connected to a Wii Nunchuck controller to drive and analyze a classic Snake game. One Promira platform ran the I2C Active – Level 1 Application, actively communicating with the controller by issuing I2C read requests to retrieve joystick and button data used to control gameplay. The second Promira platform, running the new I2C Analysis Application, passively monitored the bus, sniffing the I2C traffic in real time. The Nunchuck’s joystick controlled the snake’s movement, while the buttons triggered various in-game responses. All I2C transactions were captured and displayed in real time in Data Center Software.

Never before had a Total Phase tradeshow demo attracted this level of attention, with numerous attendees flocking to play the game and check it out.

This demonstration also highlights the innovative developments behind our new high-speed analysis applications for the Promira Serial Platform which include:

I2C Analysis Application (I2C Analysis up to 5 MHz)

SPI Analysis – Level 1 Application  (SPI Analysis up to 24 MHz)

SPI Analysis – Level 2 Application (SPI Analysis up to 40 MHz)

The Promira Serial Platform is now positioned as the industry-leading all-in-one tool for I2C and SPI developing and debugging. The Promira gives engineers powerful control and visibility over their I2C and SPI based systems. It can act as a high-speed host adapter capable of emulating both master and slave devices, enabling thorough system testing and validation. At the same time, its protocol analyzer capabilities provide real-time monitoring of bus traffic, helping developers quickly identify issues and optimize performance.

Total Phase Demo Videos

For those who missed seeing these demos live in person, you can watch them here:

Thanks to everyone who came by our booth to say hello, check out the demos, and share their experiences. We always enjoy connecting with engineers face-to-face and hearing how our tools are used in the real world. Those conversations continue to drive our mission to build solutions that make embedded debugging easier, faster, and more dependable.

If you are finding challenges with effectively debugging in common serial protocols such as I2C, SPI, USB, CAN, or eSPI, or you are one of many companies who are concerned with the safety and reliability of next generation USB cables, then please contact us at  sales@totalphase.com - we’d love to help!
