Cheetah SPI Host Adapter Quick Start Guide

Introduction

These getting started guidelines are intended to facilitate the first use of the Cheetah SPI Host Adapter. The Cheetah adapter can be used with Control Center Serial Software, Flash Center Software, or Cheetah Software API to communicate with any standard SPI slave device. Use the Cheetah adapter with Control Center, and follow the instructions below to communicate with a standard SPI slave device.

Getting Started Guidelines

  1. Download and run the latest version of the Total Phase USB Drivers Installer for Linux and Windows.
  2. Connect the Cheetah adapter to the PC via the USB connector.
  3. Download and unzip the latest version of Control Center; select from Windows, Linux, or Mac OS X(?)
  4. Launch Control Center. (?)
  5. Connect to the Cheetah adapter. (?)
    1. Click Adapter and Connect.
    2. Select the Cheetah adapter.
    3. Click OK to connect to the Cheetah adapter.
  6. Connect the Cheetah adapter's 10-pin header to the target system. (?)
    1. If you have the Beagle I2C/SPI Beagle Analyzer and the I2C/SPI Activity Board, you can use these tools to setup a target system to test the capabilities of the devices. For additional information, take a look at the Beagle Protocol Analyzer User Manual, and I2C/SPI Activity Board User Manual.
  7. The Cheetah adapter is capable of communicating with SPI traffic in SPI Master mode. Configure the Cheetah adapter SPI parameters.* (?)
    1. Click Adapter and select SPI Master
    2. Configure the Mode 0-3, Bitrate, Bit Order, SS Polarity, SS0-2, Output Enable, Target Power, All Bytes, Delay, and MOSI Message data based on the parameters of the target system.
    3. Click Send to shift out the MOSI message on the SPI bus.
  8. Monitor the transactions in the Transaction Log.

*Cheetah GUI functionality has now been implemented in Control Center Serial Software as SPI Master mode.
