Total Phase has released a second major update for the Total Phase USB Power Delivery Analyzer. Last time we enabled our award-winning Data Center Software for capture visualization, this time we’ve added support for several new features as part of Power Delivery 3.0: extended messages, handling of new messages, and DisplayPort VDM decoding! This is a free (software-only) upgrade from Total Phase.

The Total Phase USB Power Delivery Analyzer is a small adapter for recording the Power Delivery protocol traffic on the USB Type-C connector. It connects in-line between two Type-C products, and passively captures all communication between them, on both the CC1 and CC2 signals. While connected, it does not disturb any USB 3.1 Gen 2 or USB 2.0 signals, enabling capture of PD negotiation for power, USB data roles, and DisplayPort, or other Type-C Alternate Modes.

We worked closely with Google to bring this Chromium project design (code name "Twinkie") to market. The USB Power Delivery Analyzer is manufactured in our own US-based, ISO9001 certified facility. The Total Phase USB Power Delivery Analyzer goes beyond the original Twinkie design, offering improved firmware for use with our Data Center Software.

Data Center Software brings simultaneous capture and true real-time display and decoding of captured data. It runs on Windows, Mac OS X, and Linux.

If you are still not sure which features are perfect for your application, please see our USB Product Comparison chart.

Detailed technical information about the Total Phase Power Delivery Analyzer can be found in the User Manual.

We also have a Quick Start Guide to help you get started.

Total Phase has not verified and does not support or endorse any claims connected with the open source project. Visit the Chromium Project website for more information.

PD analyzer
It does exactly what it says on the tin as they say. Very pleased with what this tiny little device can do. An essential device if developing with USB-C Power Delivery.
