Are there Specifications or Limits when Utilizing Multiple Aardvark I2C/SPI Host Adapters in One System?
Rena

Question from the Customer:

I am designing a system that will use 12 Aardvark I2C/SPI Host Adapters. Are there any specifications or limits of how many Aardvark adapters to utilize in one system?

Response from Technical Support:

Thanks for your question! Multiple Aardvark adapters can easily be connected to one computer. The only specification is that each Aardvark adapter must have its own instance of software, such as the Control Center Serial Software or the Aardvark API Software. The limitation is based on how many active devices and software instances the host computer(s) can support.

The Control Center Serial Software provides easy access to all Aardvark adapter features, including I2C, SPI, and GPIO functionalities. For repetitive tasks and to increase the flexibility of using the Aardvark adapter, you can create batch scripts in XML, which can be run automatically as well as manually. Examples of XML scripts can be downloaded from the Total Phase website. The Control Center Serial Software comes with a built-in help system, to which you can refer for descriptions of all the commands. With this software tool, you can quickly and easily get your system up and running.

For more complex tasks, we recommend using the Aardvark API Software. The API software can be used on many operating systems, and interfaces with many programming languages. Also, example programs are provided, which can be used as-is or customized per your system’s specifications. For details about the API, please refer to the API Documentation section of the Aardvark I2C/SPI Host Adapter User Manual.
