Sending CAN Messages Between Two Komodo Duo Interface Channels Using Komodo GUI

Introduction

This article focuses on how to send CAN data between channel A and channel B in one Komodo Duo interface.

Overview

In this article Komodo channel A and Komodo channel B are connected together in a loop. Komodo channel A sends 11 22 33 44 55 to Komodo channel B, and Komodo channel B sends 66 77 88 99 00 to Komodo channel A.

CAN Data Transfer Guidelines

  1. Download and run the latest version of the Total Phase USB Drivers Installer.
  2. Download and unzip the latest version of Komodo GUI. (?)
  3. Connect the Komodo interface to the PC via the USB connector.
  4. Connect the Komodo DB-9 channel A to Komodo DB-9 channel B. (?)
  5. Connect 1K OHM resistor between CAN+ and CAN- in Komodo channel A block screw terminal.
  6. Launch Komodo GUI - 1 on PC. (?)
  7. Launch Komodo GUI - 2 on PC. (?)
  8. Connect Komodo port 0 to Komodo GUI - 1. (?)
    1. Click Analyzer.
    2. Click Connect.
    3. Select the Komodo port 0.
    4. Click OK to connect to the Komodo interface.
  9. Connect Komodo port 1 to Komodo GUI - 2. (?)
    1. Click Analyzer.
    2. Click Connect.
    3. Select the Komodo port 1.
    4. Click OK to connect to the Komodo interface.
  10. Configure Komodo GUI - 1 (?)
    1. Click Mode -> General CAN.
    2. Configure to enable Active CAN Mode, Bitrate: 125 Khz, CAN ID: 0x123, DLC: 5, Message: 11 22 33 44 55, Ch A.
    3. Click Analyzer → Run.
  11. Configure Komodo GUI - 2 (?)
    1. Click Mode -> General CAN.
    2. Configure to enable Active CAN Mode, Bitrate: 125 Khz, CAN ID: 0x456, DLC: 5, Message: 66 77 88 99 00, Ch B.
    3. Click Analyzer → Run.
  12. On Komodo GUI - 1 click Send Message. (?)
  13. On Komodo GUI - 2 click Send Message. (?)
  14. Verify that that both Komodo channels receive the data correctly.
